"Vasbyt", that little Afrikaans word that captures the emotional, physical and psychological effort and strain a student experiences while completing this tough phase. Pushing oneself to the limit, and then still a little further is what Vasbyt is all about. How does one react when pushed so far, no-one knows until its done.   In the process of doing the seemingly impossible, every student gains a tremendous amount of self confidence. Not only does Vasbyt give the student insight into himself, but it also prepares him for those long hot patrols in the operational area. It is a different student that comes out on the other side of a successfully completed Vasbyt excercise.   Golf Company took the honours for the third year in a row, by winning the phase for 1985.

"Vasbyt", daardie klein Afrikaanse woordjie wat die emosionele, fisiese en psigiese inspanning vang en 'n student ervarings terwyl die voltooiing van hierdie moeilike fase stam. Stoot hom tot die uiterste, en dan nog 'n bietjie verder is wat Vasbyt beteken. Hoe reageer 'n persoon wanneer hy te ver gedruk is, niemand weet tot sy dit gedoen het.  In die proses om die skynbaar onmoontlik te doen, elke student winste neem van 'n enorme bedrag van selfvertroue. Nie net dat Vasbyt die student insig in homself gegee het nie, maar dit is ook voorbereiding vir hom vir die lang, warm patrollies in die operasionele gebied. Dit is 'n verskillende student wat aan die ander kant van' n suksesvolle voltooiing van 'n 'Vasbyt' oefening uitkom.  Golf Kompanie het die eer gevat vir die derde jaar in 'n ry, met die oorwinning van die fase vir 1985.
